Job description
Within the Tech Department, the mission of the data scientist will be to :
• Participated in targeted data science initiatives, leveraging his/her sound knowledge of data science practices and technologies to help our business extracting the right insight from data
• Contribute to the deployment of a best-in-class data science environment (incl. governance, processes and tooling) by providing expert knowledge and bringing innovative ideas.
What you’ll do
  • In this role, the successful candidate will primarily support the practical delivery of data science initiative from end-to-end, ie:
  • Interact with business stakeholders to understand the context of the initiatives and help them clearly defining the associate objectives, the methodologies to be applied and the expected outcomes
  • Understand the available data and agree with business experts on those that need to be collected and that will provide us with the best insights in the scope of each initiative
  • Take the responsibility of data preparation phrases aiming at transforming raw data into datasets that are suitable for further analysis and processing
  • Implement models in line with the objectives of each initiative using the appropriate tools and technique and ensure/ demonstrate the quality of those models
  • Produce reports on the outcome of data science initiatives and define the process trough which the resulting models will be deployed for use in a productive environment (industrialization) when relevant
  • Additionally, as member of the TECH department, the candidate will have regular interactions with data engineering teams to help steering the deployment of data integration pipelines and of solutions enabling the analysis of those data by data scientist.
Profile
  • Ability to complete his/her role with limited supervision
  • Curiosity and willingness to understand the reality behind the data
  • Master degree or PhD in Statistics, Math or Informatics
Required Skills
  • Previous relevant experience as data scientist within various industries (knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment is considered as an assets)
  • Broad experience with data science/ data mining initiative and underlying techniques, incl:
    o Business problem understanding and data science objective setting
    o Data collection and preparation
    o Model development and quality testing
    o Model industrialization
  • Up-to-date knowledge of and experience with common data science techniques (including but not limited to machine learning)
  • Strong/ agile communication skills (both technical and non-technical) and ability to introduce new practices within an organization
  • Strong programming skills (in relevant languages like R and/or Python)
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g. Hadcoop, spark, Azure)
  • Strong experience with modem NLP techniques to design and implement experiments for testing new hypotheses regarding :
    o Information Extraction
    o Cross-lingual information retrieval
    o Machine translation
    o Abstractive summarization
